The Milton Keynes casino has been closed until further notice due to the owners entering administration.

Administration Details

Administrators were appointed on Tuesday, April 8 (Case Number CR-2025-002459), and are currently exploring potential transactions while awaiting a sale. Two buyers have expressed interest in the MK site, with a decision expected by today, Monday.

Companies Affected

Aspers UK Holdings Limited, Aspers Group Limited, Aspers Finance Limited, and Aspers Milton Keynes Limited have all been placed into administration. Aspers Stratford has informed its members that the Genting casino group will be taking over operations immediately.

Casino Background

The Aspers MK casino opened in 2013 as the second large licence super casino in the United Kingdom, offering a variety of slot machines, electronic and table games, poker tournaments, live music, and dining options at its restaurant.

Financial Issues

Unfortunately, the casino's financial records indicate a lack of profitability over the years, with an average of only 500 guests per day who each incur a loss of approximately GBP50 (US$70). The original concept was to position the casino as an entertainment destination rather than focus as a gambling facility, but this strategy has not yielded the desired results.

What Did The Reviews Say?

Reviews said "terrible - it felt like a betting shop, with people in anoraks, tracksuits. It was like Wetherspoons (British pub chain) had made a casino."

Also...

"This casino has more tables than staff. The 2 roulette tables that are open are over crowded, can lead to arguments because people invading personal space. Terrible experience. Not sure why the surplus managers on floor can't open table themselves?"

Valid points here but our favourite is the following which always is a classic sign of top management who believe they understand the industry better than those who have worked on the casino floor-

"Way too many double 00 roulette tables. I think I only saw one single 0 table and that had fairly high minimum bets. A seasoned gambler knows that it's a greedy con made by casinos to increase their edge. Saps the fun out of playing. A lot of our team grew bored quickly as things were too expensive. Blackjack also had expensive minimum's."

"Staff / customer service is abysmal. For the amount of money you spend, you'd expect staff service to be good. The staff in the restaurant were great but everywhere else in the casino it was awful. Everyone we spoke to really didn't seem happy to be there. No one on the desks for the cloakroom. Dealers and pit bosses couldn't be more miserable."
